Visiting Team Information

Address

The pool address is 8351 Stonewall Rd. Manassas, VA 20110

Meet Parking

Parking is tight at Stonewall Park Pool. If parking is not available in the parking lot, it is allowed on the road from the entrance to the pool on both sides, on the grass, and on cul-de-sac around in the park. Don’t block the entrance to the pool on the right (it’s marked) and don’t park on this drive. Carpooling is highly encouraged. Handicap spaces are provided within the main parking lot, however, if your team needs handicapped parking, please contact [email protected] to ensure we have enough spaces available.

This is a city pool and park, and we cannot reserve parking for visiting teams.

Heat Sheets

Meet heat sheets will be published by the home team's computer representative, which will notify all swim families from both teams via the mobile app. Copies of the heat sheets will be given to all Stroke and Turn officials, Clerk or Course as well as to coaches. The home team will print all lane timer sheets and relay cards for recorders.

Concessions

Our fully stocked and staffed concessions stand will provide a variety of delicious hot and cold food and drinks for purchase throughout the meet beginning at 6:30am. Cash or Credit!

Volunteers

The Volunteer Coordinator is Laurel Ulrich, and she can be reached at [email protected]

SPST runs two volunteer shifts (for all positions except for officials). The first shift runs 7:00 am - 9:15 am (before the 9-10 backstroke begins). The second shift runs from 9:30am until the end of the meet. SPST typically takes a 10–15-minute break during this shift change for all swimmers to participate in a little fun. Volunteer coverage must be maintained throughout the meet.

Matters will be resolved as quickly as possible with the officials concerned.
  • The backstroke flags at each end of the pool are located at the 5-meter standard.

Pool Deck Access

The actual deck area of our pool is quite large compared to many other pools and we typically can fit both teams on the deck without many needing to use the overflow area. NOTE: The wading pool “baby pool” is closed during meets, so please do not swim or wade in the baby pool. We attempt to barricade the areas of the pool that may be enticing for children to sit along. At no time should anyone enter the pool that is not competing or sit at the edge with feet inside the pool.

Visiting Team Area

The visiting team area is on the pool deck at the back of the pool and to the right near clerk of course. (Please see the pool layout below). Visiting teams are welcome to set up tents on the pool deck in these designated areas.

Clerk of Course

Clerk of Course is located at the far-right side of the pool inside the wading pool area (through a gate). Swimmers should access the pool by the Clerk of Course when their events are announced over the loudspeaker.

Additional Information

  • The announcer will call each event twice. Swimmers should report at first call. A “last call” will be made. Swimmers arriving after the event has been seeded may not be able to swim. Please advise your coaches and parents to listen for announcements for event reporting. Please see Clerk of Course and Head Official for further assistance.
  • Meet sheets will be available and printouts will be provided to officials and coaches.
  • There is no standing, sitting, or camping in the area behind the timers and recorders. That area is for swimmers, coaches, and volunteers.
  • Lifeguards are provided for water and pool deck safety. The lifeguards will also provide first aid at the guard station near the restrooms.
  • The Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem will be at 6:58 am
  • Per directives of the PWSL, swimmers will not be allowed to compete in PWSL meets if they have body paint, hair paint, and/or sharpie ink on their body beyond event information. The child will be given the opportunity to remove the paint.
  • Per directives of the PWSL, swimmers are reminded they will not be allowed to compete in PWSL meets if they have body paint, hair paint, and/or sharpie ink on their body. Only event and heat information may be written on a swimmer's arm using a sharpie.

Sportsmanship

In keeping with PWSLs commitment to league-wide good sportsmanship, please know that such respectful behavior is something that the SPST coaching staff, swim committee and parents seek to instill in each swimmer. Athletes are taught to encourage and motivate through cheers, positive focus, and praise. After a hard race, acknowledging the efforts of your opponent, win or lose, always speaks volumes in developing the character of our swimmers. We know that the competitive nature of sports often makes for emotional events. No matter the age, our swimmers are encouraged, and shown by example, to be in control of their actions and exercise good sportsmanship at all times. We look forward to a friendly, respectful competition!

Photography Policy

For the safety of all swimmers, cameras and other recording devices (including cell phones) will not be permitted on either end of the pool. This applies to all meet attendees, volunteers, as well as swimmers. Photos/videos may only be taken from the sides of the pool. This will be enforcedby meet officials. We thank you in advance for your cooperation.
